I just wanted to take a moment to share our beneficial experiences with Enterprise Super Search (ESS).

We ordered ESS and have deployed 45 copies of the new search tool. After using ISYS with its restrictive licensing, using ESS was so much easier and more cost effective for the department (ten licenses of ISYS were ½ the cost of the ESS license for everyone in the department). ESS has now been configured to scan the same directories as ISYS and our users comment that they think using ESS is easier than using ISYS.

We are also seeing benefits with document retrieval. Most of our users share a ‘group’ drive. On these shared file locations there can be 10’s of gigabytes of documents and with ESS our users just point ESS to their shared drive and finding the exact document is not longer such a difficult endeavor. They just type in so key words and ESS returns all of the documents matching their query.

The final benefit if that ESS will also index all of the user’s PST files. This has been a wonderful feature because many of our lawyers have 15-30 PST files with archived case information. Our users are now happy to put old email/attachments into their archive folders, because with ESS they can retrieve their information just as seamlessly as they can for their other documents.

Overall the Legal Department has seen a tremendous benefits from the installation of ESS on our department’s computers.
