"In an economy that is now more information based than industrial, and where companies are being forced to downsize due to the financial crisis, increasing the productivity of the information worker has become imperative...research demonstrates that investment in better information access, management, and collaboration tools and processes pays for itself, often in a matter of months. When knowledge work is automated, not only are enterprises more efficient but their relationships with customers, partners, and suppliers are improved immeasurably."

Search Category Bar
ESS can show or hide one or more search categories on the toolbar of the main window. However, you must display the search categories to use them. You cannot search for a particular type of file unless its category is displayed on the toolbar.
The numbers located at the bottom of the category, displays the number of additional matching results found for query entered. Just click on a category link to display the corresponding results in the main window.

Search Section
This section lets you enter your query request in the search box. This is many times the only area you need to define in order to find the document or email you want. If your document is text based (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, Text-Searchabe PDF), Enterprise Super Search will search by the title, document content, and by the document properties. This delivers powerful results quickly & accurately.
You can also use quotation marks for exact phrases or whole words. In addition, ESS supports various search operators, such as Boolean operators (AND/+, OR, NOT/-) and parentheses to refine your query.
You can click the search button (arrow icon) or hit the Enter key to launch or initiate the query however this is not required because ESS filters and displays results as you type any letter in the search box. You can also select a criterion in a drop-down list of the Refine Search section.

These search boxes also allow you to use various Search Operators, such as Boolean operators (AND/+, OR, NOT/-), parentheses and quotes (for exact phrases or whole words). For further information, refer to each appropriate search category’s help page (the Web Search, Favorites and History categories do not feature search fields).

Document Preview Section
Available for each search category, this section displays a text-based preview of the selected result. Scanned PDF documents will only appear if they are text searchable.
